Last week, it was announced that Bedfordshire's PCC, Festus Akinbusoye, would be the Conservative candidate for Nadine Dorrie seat once she resigns.
Ms Dorries described him as "one of the best people I know" adding that he was "genuine, principled with a track record of delivery".
When asked about this, Area Chairman Douglas Hansen-Luke said "Festus and Mid-Beds are receiving the most professional support, resources and leadership from CCHQ. It’s a difficult time and difficult circumstances to fight an election but Festus is a proven winner. He’ll get there!"
